Congrats to my boys and girls for a one at contest this past weekend...one point away from Best in Class...too close...means we let someone else be better. ON we go to stop that from happening again!
Congrats as well to the entire Pride of Alexander City, all of whom made ones at the Weaver show, and the Drum Majors, who received Best in Class. Well done, folks!
This weekend, we welcome sixteen great bands to the Charles E. Bailey SportPlex for the Lake Martin Invitational. We wish them all well, and hope that we're going to have an entertaining and classy day of band competition!
Also, from the percussive point - we welcome Chris Moore, who will be judging LMI for the first time. Chris is a respected educator and PASIC High School marching competition winner. No small potatoes!!!
Ready for the next thing,
Posting on a happy day - it's been a year since our oldest daughter was in the hospital frail, yet playful, receiving blood transfusions and seemingly endless tests. Today, she's happy and healthy!
Posting on a sad day - after 25 years (many of which were my formative musical years) Dream Theater drummer and co-founder Mike Portnoy has decided to leave the band. This signals a paradigm shift in progressive metal and rock. Imagine Neal Peart leaving Rush...on their new biopic, they said if that happened, there'd be no more Rush...hard to imagine Dream Theater moving forward, but those guys are dedicated and smart...I know they won't disappoint.
The Pride drumline is kickin' it hard as we move towards our first home game on Friday. Clips from rehearsal and performance are coming to YouTube; simply search BRHSPride (our channel) and subscribe!!
These are some of the best kids I've ever worked with, and is shaping up to be the best drumline!
